Dr Shiv J. Singh gave an invited talk at ICSM 2023
International Conference on Superconductivity and Magnetism (ICSM) is one of the biggest conferences in the field of superconductors. This year it was held in Fethiye, Turkey on May 4-11, 2023 and it gathered over 500 participants from all around the world, including 22 scientists from Poland.
Dr. Shiv J. Singh from our Institute was invited to give a talk on “High-Pressure Growth and Physical Properties of Iron-Based Superconductors: 1111 and 1144”. He presented his team’s current results and highlighted the importance of the high-pressure growth effect on Iron-Based Superconductors with respect to Convenient Growth Methods at ambient pressure. Also our two Ph.D. students: Manasa Manasa, and Mohammad Azam, have presented their poster contributions. More information can be found on the conference website (https://icsm2023.org/).
One of the important subjects discussed at ICSM2023 was the recent report of superconductivity at room temperature in a N-doped lutetium hydride. This material was reported by the American group to show the superconducting properties at 20°C (10 kbar), (Nature 615, 244 (2023)). In this conference, Japanese and Chinese groups presented their studies on N-doped lutetium hydride under applied pressure. Unfortunately, both groups did not observe the superconducting behaviors even at very high pressures. Interestingly, in 2020 the same American group had reported room-temperature superconductivity in a carbonaceous sulfur hydride at about 15°C (Nature, 586, 373 (2020)) but the article was retracted after two years.
