Professor Suchocki passed away on 18 November 2025. For many years he was one of the key figures at the Institute of Physics, Polish Academy of Sciences, where he served, among other roles, as Deputy Director for Research and as head of a department and research group, combining scientific excellence with a strong commitment to the development of the institute’s community.
For our Institute he was not only a highly valued scientific collaborator, but also a close Friend. The joint projects and numerous publications we co-authored with Professor Suchocki significantly contributed to the progress of research carried out at the Institute of High Pressure Physics. Working with him always meant open and friendly discussions, constructive scientific criticism and his constant readiness to share knowledge.
We will remember him as a wonderful Person – kind, calm, and exceptionally courteous, with a warm sense of humour – and at the same time as a passionate physicist whose achievements have left a lasting mark on the development of our field in Poland and worldwide.
To Professor Suchocki’s Family and Loved Ones we extend our deepest sympathy and sincere condolences.
